MY SCHOOL JOURNEY
I was filling out a form for an international organization that required my school details for verification. I was surprised I could still recall my matriculation number after all small years.
On my matriculation day, I was only present for less than 15 minutes. I was even forced to take photos. I handed the gown over to someone else and left immediately. My convocation was worse, I didn’t attend at all. I just collected my certificate from the HOD after the clearance process.
That time, I was already planning to pursue a Master’s in Finland. I attended every EU educational expo in Abuja that year, searching for scholarships. When a classmate suggested we apply for Master’s programs at Federal University Nasarawa or UniAbuja, I refused. "No," I said, "I want to do my Master’s in Accounting and Auditing in Finland."
I even went to the Ministry of Niger Delta seeking scholarships, but it seemed they already had their chosen candidates lined up. Later, doing one of the EU expo, I was offered a 30% scholarship to study in Australia but I still needed about ₦23 million. How could I get that kind of money. How many bags of "pure water" would I need to sell at beggar junction to raise that amount, me that have never eaten rice before fa. I gave up, bought a bag of soft red garri, and I’ve been drinking it ever since.
Few weeks ago, I accompanied this my guy to the airport as he left for his PhD in Canada. This same guy finished his Master’s at Nasarawa, worked, saved up, and is now pursuing his dreams. Meanwhile, I’m still in the forest hoping to share a mango with a monkey someday ðŸ˜ðŸ˜.
It’s good to have determination and hope, but sometimes we need to let God’s plan unfold. If you’ve pursued football for years without success, consider learning a trade or furthering your education. Clinging too tightly to one path can consume you with regret.
Time won’t reverse wasted years. If Plan A isn’t working, switch to Plan B. Plan B might even help you achieve Plan A later. That was my mistake. I held onto Plan A for too long without letting go.
Always, am creating big correction using Eba and garlic soup. I still want to do Master for abroad ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ because I have plan to sell GARRI.
Until the moment when will shall dance in white Greater Grace.
