STAGGERING PREGNANCY AMONG TEENS

The alarming rate at which teenage boys impregnate young girls is staggering almost like a reckless competition.  

While society pressures men in their 30s and 40s to marry, these teenage boys chase meaningless relationships that result in senseless pregnancies. After secondary school, their priorities are skewed: they scramble for jobs paying ₦60k-₦70k, then immediately spend their earnings on smartphones and ₦10k polo shirts instead of planning for the future. Worse, they use these status symbols to lure countless young girls.  

If one of them rents a single room and adds a TV with a blue bulb, that space becomes a "5-star hotel." You’ll see girls streaming out every morning and the stench of weed clouding the air each evening.  

At this rate, finding a truly prudent teenage girl might require walking from Akwa Ibom to Sokoto. Our societal moral standards are plummeting to 0.0001.  

If you ask me to debate boarding school versus day school, I’d just sit and cry. I once believed parental supervision was key, but now parents are overwhelmed by economic survival some even encourage their children to bring home money by any means necessary. 

Today, a community chemist’s main income comes from treating infections among the youth.  

Honestly, we have monumental work ahead to rebuild.

Until the moment when will shall dance in white Greater Grace.
