USING CHILDREN FOR HAWKING

This morning, I passed through a quiet part of Idu Industrial Area and saw a girl around 13 years old hawking moimoi. She was heading toward two men who looked like labourers sitting under a large Cashew tree.

Since I was closer to her, I called out that I wanted to buy moimoi. She came to me first. After purchasing what I didn’t even need, I whispered a warning. "Don’t go to those men under the tree."

She turned and left immediately, visibly shaken. I noticed the men didn’t call her back.

I can’t fathom why mothers sit at home while sending 13-year-old girls alone to hawk goods kilometers away. This isn’t poverty it’s wickedness. The mother might find hawking shameful or refuse to accompany her child, yet she trades the girl’s safety for profit.

There’s too much wickedness on our streets. As we struggle to survive, we must never sacrifice our children to carelessness.

Please am speaking from the side of concern not comdamming.

Until the moment when will shall dance in white Greater Grace.
