NIGERIA EDUCATION SYSTEM AND CHINESE LANGUAGE
The Federal Government's introduction of Chinese as a foreign language in the senior secondary school syllabus is a commendable and forward-thinking development.
In today's globalized world, being multilingual is a significant advantage. With nearly 1.4 billion people speaking Chinese and China's position as a major global economy, understanding the language has become increasingly important. Future global diplomacy and trade will undoubtedly involve significant engagement with China, making this skill a necessity for the next generation.
Personally, I have already begun learning Chinese. While I currently have no professional ties with China, I am preparing for future opportunities.
It is a wise strategic move for the government to empower our youth with this language. Many Chinese citizens speak English, but very few people outside of China understand Chinese. The Chinese government itself invests billions in teaching its citizens English and French for international diplomacy; it is only logical that we take a similar step.
Until the moment when will shall dance in white Greater Grace.
